Breeding Beautiful Ponies since 1967
Imperial Welsh Pony Stud was established by Mark Bullen with the purchase of three ponies from the Loch-Sloy Stud in South Australia. A further four mares in foal, and with foals at foot, arrived in 1968, with the first Imperial foals in 1969.
Since those early years, the stud has been based on a number of imported ponies. Welsh Mountain Pony stallions included Kidwell Pipson and Revel Pye (both sons of the great Clan Pip), Brierwood Fusilier, Weston Hoopla, Hollybush Joker, Waxwing Herrod and Revel Spinning Top. Our Welsh stallions included Weston Chilo, Weston Chippendale and Downland Warrior. Numerous mares were added during this time, sourced from major studs in the UK. Bloodlines include Revel, Coed Coch, Criban, Cui, Twyford, Brierwood, Weston and Downland.
At the 20th International Welsh Show, held in 2019 by the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of Australia in Sydney, Imperial Pavarotti was sashed Supreme Champion Welsh Pony. His daughter, Imperial Lady Athena, won her class and was sashed Reserve Youngstock Champion. We are proud of our reputation for excellence that has lasted for over 50 years, and excited about our future.
